𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗯𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗺𝗶𝘀𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝗪𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗼𝘄𝘀 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝗲𝘄𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗰𝗺𝗱𝗹𝗲𝘁𝘀?

This one’s a classic headache… and it can waste hours if you’re not careful.

⚠️ 𝗗𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼𝗼𝗹𝘀 = 𝗗𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘀.
Here’s what happens when you check the same firewall setting using different methods:

1️⃣ netsh advfirewall → Shows the Firewall is ON (reads local config)
2️⃣ Get-NetFirewallProfile -PolicyStore ActiveStore → Shows it’s OFF (reads the active policy)
3️⃣ GUI → Confirms it’s OFF via Group Policy

👉 𝗟𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗻? 𝗗𝗼𝗻’𝘁 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗽𝘂𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘀𝗲𝗲. Understand where the setting is pulled from — especially when dealing with Group Policy vs. local config.

💡 This is especially important when working with 𝗪𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗼𝘄𝘀 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗖𝗼𝗿𝗲, where you won’t have a GUI to double-check things.
